Iran Intellectual Property Center Introduces Expedited Document Verification for the registration process of IPR

In light of the electronic registration process for trademarks, industrial designs, and patents at the Iran Intellectual Property Center (IIPC), the authentication of required documents for their registration will now be handled through an expedited verification procedure designed to shorten overall processing times.
Applicants filing trademarks, industrial designs, or patents through the national e-filing portal are required to submit supporting documents such as powers of attorney, company registration extracts, priority documents, and certified translations. Under the new expedited verification service, eligible documents submitted in electronic form can be authenticated and confirmed more quickly than under the previous manual workflow.
What this means for applicants
The change supports Iran’s broader transition to fully electronic prosecution at the IIPC. Rather than waiting for physical document review at each stage, applicants whose filings meet the electronic verification criteria may see faster confirmation that their documentation is complete—reducing avoidable delays in examination and publication.
- Ensure all mandatory documents are uploaded in the correct format at the time of filing or within prescribed deadlines.
- Verify that powers of attorney and corporate documents meet IIPC legalisation and translation requirements.
- Monitor the portal for verification status updates and respond promptly to any deficiency notices.
- Foreign applicants should coordinate with local counsel to align document preparation with the expedited process.
